A track light in a customers home god hit by a roll of carpet. Two light system. One bulb got broken and the other went out.
New bulbs installed and still does not work.
Tested with an electrical tester and shows power to the tracks. Switch is a rotary dimmer/push on and off. Didn’t test with a volt meter.
Could the surge from the broken light have fried the dimmer?
Any ideas would be of help.
Thanks.

It is sure possible. I would start by just replacing the dimmer with a snap switch and go from there. The track lights I see these days also have a switch mode power supply in the head and use 12v bulbs. You could have a bad head or two.
ThanksThey do have a switch on each head. They use a full size flood type bulb. I never thought about them being a lower volt bulb.I will check that. Thanks again.Russell
Also look at the little conductive tabs on the lamp base that engage the track - I've seen them bent up just enough to not make contact, even on new ones.
(we make them where I work)
