I sold my old toyota pickup last fall and have been wanting to put a trailer hitch on my car so I can pull a trailer periodically.
A couple of days ago I went to U-Haul and had them install what I think is kind of an unusual trailer hitch.
The trailer hitch is “removable” by pulling a pin and removing the visible part of the hitch.
With the new trailer hitch I can rent a 5 X 8 Uhaul trailer for $18 per day and this works fine for me if I need to move some furniture or washer and dryer etc.
Enclosed are some pictures.
By the way, my car is a 2003 Buick Century with a V-6. I loaded the trailer and drove several hundred miles and still made 20 miles per gallon. The car pulled the weight easily.

Looks like a variation on a standard lightweight receiver hitch -- the receiver is mounted higher and farther upward than normal to make it totally hidden when no drawbar is installed.
Of course, be aware of the weight limitations on this hitch -- probably about 1500 pounds.
my understanding is I can tow up to 3,500 lbs.Enclosed is the Uhaul hitch they call a "stealth hitch"http://store.uhaul.com/hitches.aspx^^^^^^

I doubt that your car is rated over 2000.

I installed a similar Hidden Hitch on my Subaru last weekend; took me about 1 hr.
The load rating will be the LOWER of either the hitch limit OR the car limit. And watch the tongue weight limits as well.
Thanks I appreciate the info.I have wiring for the trailer lights in my trunk. The wire lays in the trunk when not in use. When you need it, you plug it in to the trailer and just close the trunk lid on the wire and it seems to work just fine.^^^^^^

The htich might be rted for thaat but I doubt the car is rated for half that. When I lived in a mountain town in CO, it was a weekly summer occourance toi see a car broke down with tranny, engine, or brake trouble because they were pulling overloads

Yeah but Model Ts were prone to do that anyway...
Now, now... Piffin's not nearly that old. They were Model As.

I had a guy a few summers back try to sell me a class 3 hitch for the Mazda B2200 I was driving. He insisted I could pull 2 tons with it. I asked him to put the guaranty in writing, he seemed surprsed and asked why. I just smiled and said it is a four cylinder. He asked what is a cylinder. I told him he should go and apply at Home depot. ( I didn't buy the hitch)

I have a folding trailer like this one. http://i6.ebayimg.com/02/i/08/7f/6e/75_2.JPG
It fits in front of my truck in the garage, rolls around on casters. It's easy to unfold and hook up, just a couple of minutes at most.
The one in the photo sells for less than three hundred dollars, shipped. Find it on Ebay. Check under "folding trailer."
I believe that Harbor Freight has them too.
I've used mine to haul motorcycles, furniture, all kinds of job materials, firewood.

Thanks!
You're welcome! I've had one of them for about twenty-five years, first used it behind a Honda Civic. Very handy. Completely out of the way until I need it. They have 2X4 sized stake pockets on the frame too.
Great - hideaway trailer hitch, folding trailer; Inspector Gadget would love it ! !
