Anyone know where I can find some info or (preferred) pictures of interior doors with operating transom windows? Also any opinions on these? Are they desirable to home buyers? I’m in the planning stages with my 1940 investment property. I know these windows would be totally gratuitious and probably a waste of time and money but I like to look into all my options. neither bedroom door is in a load bearing wall so if I chose to add them it would not be much of a problem.

In older homes like these, the main remodeling goal is often a more welcoming, more social, and more functional kitchen.

Thanks, I just searched for sites. I always forget you can just search images.
I was hoping for a little more clear picture of an interior door w/a transom light. Also I was hoping for a close up of the opening mecanism.
not asking much right? Just clear pictures of something that hasnt been built in decades. :)

Van Dyke's Restorers sells transom window hardware...http://www.vandykes.com
For some reason I cant get on their site right now, but I think i've already been there. I'm going to see if I can find any books on the subject. I'd like some clear pics to see if it is something relatively simple to build or if it isnt worth the time. I havent found any good shots online.
Their phone number is 18005581234...
The ones I remember were simple mechanically. Hinged at the bottom like a hopper window, with just a piece of sash chain to limit the distance they open. The fancy part was the latch, a spring loaded bolt with a loop handle that fits a horizontal pin on the end of a pole.
Here's the latch:

Sounds about like I remember them too. Problem is its been too long since i've seen them. If I cant picture them, I cant build them.
