Has anyone used the new ‘Trapeze’ deck screws from FastenMaster? Made for composite (ie. Trex) and are supposed to eliminate mushrooming.

You don't have to sacrifice historical elements of a house in the name of energy efficiency.

Only through the top fastner I would use for composite decking. There is no mushrooming and the head is small enough that it is hard to see even after it installed. I only wish I could find the colatted for my screw gun.
An excellent product that works exactly as they claim. As far as I know, they're not yet producing a 3" length so you're limited to 5/4 decking. In my area, 2x6 composite is used as extensively as 5/4. Hopefully they'll hook up with the deck gun makers so we can start seeing these collated. My guess is that they initially saw them as a DIY type product but pros have jumped all over the them.
