In all the insulation articles I’ve read, I’ve never seen this answered: Now that I have a foot of cellulose in my attic, how do you move around in it for repairs, etc.? Shovel it aside? Planks on top? Other?
Thanks.

In older homes like these, the main remodeling goal is often a more welcoming, more social, and more functional kitchen.

I thought about that while builing my house. I have a catwalk down the center of the attic.
The best employee you can have but you wouldn't want him as a neighbor " He the shifty type"
A little late now, but as BB said- you need a catwalk. We used to put them in all the houses in Vegas prior to blowing the fiberglass in.
In the only house I have lived in that had that problem, we just had several 2x12 planks and moved them around as needed. I would guess that some cut down sheets of plywood would work as well.
Take 3/4in plywood cheepest is best . cut into approx 16in by 8ft strips one sheet will give you 3 ocs thats 24 feet of catwalk and be wide enough to walk on and work on 2 sheets 48 ft etc then nail it down . and if you need a place you might work arround more and need to have tools then stick down a 4/4 ft sheet near chimneys in front of windows arround acces openings etc. where a good mask that stuff is the worst .
