I’m wanting to frame a tray ceiling under a vaulted ceiling. My question is what is the best way to transfer the load to the vertical walls? I’m trying to avoid putting any added stress on the existing scissor trusses.

a picture or scetch of your current ceiling would help. vaulted ceiling is way to general, and tray ceilings come in a WIDE spectrum. not knowing what you mean by vaulted, or what your tray will consist of its hard to say.
Truss are typically designed for the weight of a little miscellaneous framing. I doubt you'll cause any problems unless you get carried away.
If you're concerned, try to fasten the new framing at panel points.
