I had one heck of a time getting this one plumb. The house dropped 1 1/2" in 30'. I took all my frustration out on the punching bag.
*Hey Pro Deck, cool stuff. Gott a question; Did you ever work for people by the name of Hall? Around Christmas time? "Deck the Halls" groan, moan, sorry about that, cabin fever and out of coffee.
*LOL Armin- Feels like Christmas this morning. Brrrr! I think I'll stay home and get caught up on paperwork. I couldn't pry the frozen decking apart to install it anyway.I'll post more next week. Have a good weekend.Bob
*This is looking out my front door at 7:00 am this morning.
*Looks like time for an indoor deck.
*Bench framing
*Deck all framed and ready for decking
*Bench corner
*Just another rainy day
*hey bob, nice herringbone !... consider it stolen....as in copying is the sincerest form of flattery...hah, hah, hah
*Bob:How many days a year does it rain where you're at? It seems about every other day.By the way....nice solid benches. How do you like trex compared to cedar or redwood?
*Go for it! Mike-no patent on this design.Stan- I think it rains every other day, except this week it will rain every day.Trex is very forgiving and easy to work with, but it just doesn't smell or look like Cedar and it cost three times more than cedar.I'm using the new FasTap Poly2 screws with duracoat $350 a box but they are better than stainless. They are self drilling and self-countersinking which saves us the time of pre-drilling.Thanks for following along,Bob
*Bob, nice to watch, as always. Thanks for posting. Is that a Levelution level I see?Tom (the guy that still doesn't have a Dalluge)
*Yes Thomas-I bought that bright orange level so I wouldn't lose it.Hehe
*Bob- Thanks, always a treat to see your work. What are your plans re demise of CCA PT? -Ken
*Bob, I see you mention some pricey screws, but why does it look gun nailed in the herringbone? Also, do you round over the end grains to match the edges at the herringbone, it looks like it but I cant tell completely? Thanks for the excellent posts.
*Yes Dustin- we router the ends of the decking to match the sides. No gun nails on the decking, all screwed with these new self tap screws. I'll get a closer shot tomorrow.
*ken hill-The pressure treated lumber will still be available It just won't have that lovely arsenic I'm so used to scrapping off my hands every night. If they change the color from red to green I'll be ticked off.
