The trick is to prepare the bed of substrate properly. In this case its a 6″ bed of compacted road pack, followed by 1/2″ of sand, perfectly leveled. This compacted bed is held in place by a composite border (hidden from view). It is important not to allow the substrate to leach out from under the pavers.
The treat is the year-round beauty of these sealed pavers. You may think the work is back-breaking, but actually it is very pleasant; made enjoyable by a big wet saw that can cut a paver into all sorts of shapes.
