In a week or so….I’n gonna start exterior trim…….and unless we find out something bad about the stuff….gonna use Trim Tec pvc trim boards. 1x 10, 1x 6 and 1x 4 …..and make some 3/4x 3/4 ogee trim too.
Any experiences, or words of wisdom about using this stuff when it’s cold out. Temps here will be in 20’s to 30’s……location pretty sunny by mid day…..on the rare Pgh winter day that the sun peeks out.
Main concern is expansion in the summer heat, after a cold winter install. Next stop, is their web site. Thanks, Jeff

I would love to try that stuff if only I could find a customer to afford it ! A great idea but it is just WAY too expensive.
*WEll....we got the customer......and I'm gonna order tomorrow or day after......probably a coupla weeks till the install.......I'll let ya know. Cut the sample with a utility knife.....to get an idea of how it'll rout.......cut like butter.......nice color thru out......doubbt there will be any fuzzing or anything goofy.....should be a real crisp/clean detail. Looks like it'll nail great too. Jeff
*Jeff, did you find out how much trim tech moves? At the house where i live i sprung a 9 foot piece of 1x6 as an exterior baseboard resting on concrete between a stone wall and another piece of pvc 1x6 base when it was summer and at around freezing it gaps about 1/16 +. Like i say that was a 9 ' piece.Maybe you could take a length of the stuff after leaving it out in the cold, measure it and then bring it somewhere heated and remeasure it awhile later. I would have the same concern you have.Installing it tight cold and getting buckle or installing it tight warm and getting gaps.I have to say i believe the stuff i used was pvc and the brand name was trim tech.It was perfect stuff though for resting on concrete outside with moisture contact.Maybe if you waited till it got around 50 or 60 degrees to install it the exspansion /contraction extremes would be ok. I would like to know.
