I am building a house and ran into an issue with the trusses I am not sure how to handle.
The house has a 3 attached garage, two of the bays have living space above them, the third is just trussed. When we set the trusses and added the web bracing I nailed a 2×4 to the living space wall that runs parallel to the trusses to catch the bracing and the ends of the roof sheathing.
I may need to remove the blocking and bracing attaching the trusses to the side of the living space wall and I trying to understand if I need to replace it. There is nothing in the truss drawings or layout requiring this connection.
Thanks
Jake

This is kinda hard to picture from your description. But, if I'm seeing it correctly I think that the blocking is fire blocking to separate the space below the trusses from the vertical stud bays above. Yes you need to replace it if this is the case.
Thanks Mike.
If you were to picture trusses running across a garage, about 1/3 of the way down instead of a truss there is framed sheathed wall separating the attic space of the trusses from the living space above the garage.
In a normal roof there would be a gable end there and the truss bracing would be nailed to the gable end. Instead, I have a wall that I nailed to instead.
I don't know if that helps.
The studs bays are not open to below, the blocking I mentioned is just scrap 2x4 ~2' long nailed to the wall. to catch the ends of web bracing.
