I’m ordering trusses for a project. Adding trusses to a room over a garage that will match the roofline of the rest of the house. Truss manufacturer says that the new wall height needs to be built 3/4 in lower than the existing wall height. Problem is new walls are already built with a double top plate. Can I trim the top plate 3/4 inch where each truss sits?

That sounds like a lot of work.
Is the sheathing already on the walls?
Yes. Only 11 trusses. I was thinking I could mark where the trusses will be placed, set blade to 3/4", make a few cuts across each spot, then trim them out with a chisel.
Watch out for nails!
The other thing to consider is the structural contribution of the second top plate.
If your wall studs are within an inch of the rafters, not much of an issue, from the point of transferring loads to the foundation, but other that that, you might want to consult with your local building codes folks.
You (and your codes enforcer) may want to treat it as if the second plate is not there.

If you are in a high wind or seismic area, there are other considerations.
Ended up taking second plate of 2x6 off and installing 3/4 ply as 2nd plate. Trusses fit perfect.
