My brother decided he wanted a bay window with a copper concave roof.
he has never built one before but is a really good trim carp.
so i coached him along as he wanted to try it him self. here are some of the photos I’ve taken so far.
rough framing
bendin copper
all laid out and the straight bends made
a friend of ours (on the left) and my brother tryin to figure out the drip edge bends they just would’nt listen to me so i ended up bending them
drip edge bent
the panels hooking over the drip
now we will crimp the panels to fit the concave at a later date

Hey -
I got my Wuko tool today. Finally found a use for one, I think. copper p0rn
Which model did you get ??
2202, I think. It does one thing well and that's not the thing I convinced myself I needed it for.copper p0rn
That's gotta be the most overpriced thing I've seen in a few years.

Mike ,
Nice looking job !!
You guys are brave or ? working off that stepladder ! Great place for a lift of staging .
Lets see some more in the daylight ??
WAlter
Yea my brother tends to get impatient at times so when I went over to help I brought a better ladder that has about a 2' working platform that worked alot better.
Looks good, Mike. Keep us posted.copper p0rn
Looks good. Can't say I've ever seen copper and vinyl siding on the same house though.
the house is a work in progress he bought it a few years ago and has been working on it every since added a bathroom, built new kitchen cabinets, new hardwood flooring, now the work starts on the outside. we will be doing a two story bay on the front gable wall also. when all modifications are finished I believe his choice of siding will be stone and cedar mixed but for now the vinyl goes back on to keep everything protected and not lookin half done. :)
I'd say ya got a good handle on that. Looks great.
Took me awhile to understand the slow and steady method, them little bends save ya from big headaches.
Lets see the finished when ya get to it!Spheramid Enterprises Architectural Woodworks

Looks good, Mike. That radiused hip is tough to fold, but looks like you have it figured out. Keep us posted.
copper p0rn
would you cut the hip to fold it or do you have a way to fold without cutting?
if i cut and fold and start folding from the top down the water should run on down should that be soldered or will good tight bends do it?
I plan to crimp a cap on top of the seams.
what say seeyou?
would you cut the hip to fold it or do you have a way to fold without cutting?
Yeah. Don't cut it. Lock it on the roof where it goes and bend the first side up with hand tongs using the hip as your guide. Bend it all the way back to where the flange is in plane with the other side of the hip and fasten it with clips. Then lay the other side in place and grab both flanges at the same time and bring them back up to perpendicular with the hip. Make your bends gradual and watch for distortion on the face of your panel.
We use a standing seam anvil to form the double roll on the hips.copper p0rn
My brother and his wife got impatient and put the bay window in one night while I was at the pumpkin show and then it had to wait awhile to get the roof because of rain and other things but now we are almost finished.

Proper sequence is to say that you're cancelling your subscription and THEN threaten to leave.

ROFLOLDon't make assumptions.I should have put in a winking smiley, since I don't know what other smiley would be appropriate for sarcasm. But it was late. And I thought you'd know I was just poking fun based on the last time a mod edited a post, for the benefit of the OP.No, the peer mods do not have the power to do that.But.... You're welcome.=0)..It's all fun and games, until someone puts an eye out..You are always welcome at Quittintime
