I’m planning on installing 2 – 10″ tubular skylights in my hallway. I have a flat roof, with an average ceiling to roof height of 28″. The two brands of skylights available to me are by Solatube @ $280 ea. and Solar flair by Gordon @ 150 ea. I have seen the Gordon skylight at Home Depot but have not seen the Solatube. Does anybody have any experience with either product? It’s quite a price difference for a metal tube and a plastic dome. I definitly want to install a quality product that will last and be trouble free. Is a $180 ea. difference justified?
Thanks. Jim

I only have experience with the SoloTube. Inlaws had three installed three or so years ago. Quality product, good installation, and complete satisfaction. I installed a two by four Velux skylight in the master bath when I built the home 11 years ago. two of the 10" SoloTubes produce as much interior light as the 2x4, and with far less heat gain.

Mike: Thanks for the link to Velux. Unfortunately they don't make a 10" unit nor do they make a unit for a flat roof. However they did have a price guide which helps me with comparisons. thanks.
