I purchased a Forth hand
b Rockwell, Model 10, Contractors Radial Arm saw.
I’m looking for ideas for tuning the saw for optimum performance and adjusting the motor bracket to remove side movement.

Norm,
I also got a fourth hand Rockwell 12" radial arm saw, that is similar to the current Delta 12" saw, but has a manual brake.
I called Delta with the serial number, and they sent free of charge a xerox of the original manual.
The manual describes the tuning process:
1. level bed with respect to blade height
2. adjust slider bearings to remove play (two are on cams)
3. adjust motor so blade travels in plane of slider (removes 'crabbing')
4. adjust center detent so plane of blade is 90 deg. to fence. (Remove top plate w/angle graduations, loosen 3 blots exposed, adjust two stops in front with allen wrench, tighten 3 bolts)
5. adjust blade to be 90 to table. (similar procedure as #4)
I got the saw for $50 from a high school shop teacher who found it inaccurate and unsafe and wanted it 'out of there'. Now it has a good blade and is as good as the 1.5K$ the new ones cost!
Good luck - I can give you more details, but I think that yours is the 10 inch model which is probably a bit different. Call Delta, they will fix you up with the correct instructions -
