Building a new house – 2×6 construction and planning to add 1.5″ of styrofoam to the exterior. My question would be should the Tyvek/Typar go on under or over the styrofoam? Any advice?
Much appreciated!

I would assume that you are putting a plywood type sheathing over the exterior side of the 2x6 first then the 1.5 " styrafoam. If you butt joint the styrafoam and chaulk the edges to-gether you will not need a wrap. then strap over for exterior finish. If you are putting the styrafoam between 2x2 for needed exterior finish, place the exterior wrap over. If you are using a exterior siding finish I prefer the first method as you will have a better seal and allow a 3/4" air space between the siding and the foam, this will keep the exterior finish with an air space and allow the siding to stay dry at all times.

Thanks, you also answered my next question which was "to strap or not to strap?"
We are using vertical metal siding.
Much appreciated!
