I posted a few weeks ago about frozen pipes. To verify their frozen state, I pulled out the washer, turned off the hot (the valves are on the floor; that’s another project), removed the hose, stuck the end in a bucket, turned the valve back on. No water. So I turned the valve back off (lest it thaw in that particular moment), reconnected the hose, and pushed the washer back in.
Those of you who are at least semi-conscious will note a missing step. I did not.
A couple days later the cold water began to flow. We waited and waited, assuming the hot water would likewise free itself up. After almost 3 weeks, we were on the verge of calling someone as my efforts to thaw the pipe had been in vain. So last Friday night, to verify that the pipe was still frozen and the washer wasn’t malfunctioning, I pulled out the machine, reached down to close the hot water valve to remove the hose, and… D’OH!
Needless to say the hot water flows just fine now that the valve is open.
I expect my wife would appreciate some creative suggestions as to how I should be reprimanded.
