Underground PVC Drain Pipe – Glue???
Hello! I recently had an underground drain line replaced with 4” PVC around an egress well. This drain line services a sump pump discharge, as well as a gutter drain. The PVC connections were NOT glued before they were covered with 18” of gravel and another 6-8” of top soil. Do these connections need to be glued, or will the surrounding pressure from gravel and dirt keep them from disconnecting? Picture attached for reference.
Thanks for the input!

Any insight on this question, folks?
It depends. If you expect the piping to provide leak free drainage the joints should be solvent welded. The solvent welding process includes reaming the piping inside & out, applying a cleaner/ primer, and applying glue as specified by the pipe manufacturer.......
And in my opinion, gutter / leader drains should never share a drain pipe with a subterranean sump pump. The potential for unintended consequences is great, and I've seen too many similar potentials realized in my 50 plus year career.......
Its an outside drain so the tiny bit of water they could leak probably wont bother anything, however, I would insist on them being glued if it was my job.
