The 2009/15 IRC is unclear on wether upper undermount or upper flushmount stringers are better. I see nothing but undermount stringers sometimes, and it seems like with proper metal bracketry it is not dangerous or a fire hazard. Does anyone have different experience? Recommendations?

I'm not really sure what you mean by undermount or flush mount.
