I live in central Wisconsin and am interested in a natural no/low maintenance siding for my home. I’ve been contemplating using unfinish sawn Cedar shingles and letting them naturally weather over the years. I’m assuming that that is how the houses in the northeast get their weathered charm. Am I missing something? Will I have problems early on if I don’t seal or stain the shingles? How is it done in the Northeast?
I’d appreciate any and all comments.
