I saw this rafter/timber on a house recently and I was curious what kind of rafter it is. Instead of having a ridge beam, it has a double post near the ridge and a double post near the tail.

I’m not a fan of the bolts holding it together, but I like the idea of having a center hallway that is uninterrupted by posts. It would allow you to have a long house without posts and beams every 20′.
