I’ve made a couple of other posts about trusses and their correct installation. But something happened yesterday that made me think about bringing this up.
We got a call on the Nextel in the office yesterday – It was one of our drivers. We could barely hear him, as he was at the edge of the service area and his voice was strained. We eventually got the explanation out of him that he was pinned under something and needed help.
Unfortunately the guy was 100 miles away from the plant, so we had to get on the phone and try to find someone close. We eventually did, and got him some help.
Turns out he was unloading a set of trusses with a roller trailer. The trusses started coming off the side, so he got out of the cab to see if there was anything he could do to keep them on the trailer. Somehow he jockeyed things around a bit and the whole set of trusses came off the trailer on top of him.
The guy was hurt bad enough that they hauled him off in an ambulance. But I don’t think his injuries are life threatening. If he had left the nextel in the truck, he might be dead. (No one was on the jobsite)
My point in telling this is to remind you guys in the field that anything can happen when stuff is being unloaded. (Trusses, plywood, or lumber) Please keep that in mind so I never hear a story like this about one of you guys……

Good post, Boss. I'm gonna forward it to all our dispatch & delivery guys as I know they often leave the Nextel in the cab. Glad your guy wasn't taken out...could have been a lot worse. My hat's off to the drivers out there. A lot of these guys are the unsung heroes of the various supply businesses. If they aren't getting our stuff there, nothing happens!

saw one dude, standing to close , to package being dropped, metal band snapped and got him in the eye.no turn left unstoned
Had a driver one time, called from a job. Dropped a load in HO's driveway. HO came running out of house, frantically screaming that "Precious", the poodle, had run under the load just before it came off the bed. He never saw it coming & Precious had become a pancake! I'm thinking, oh man, shrubs & stuff are one thing but pets, that's another. So Neil lets me hyperstress for a minute or so then finally tells me he was just messing with me! Dirty dog got me good, he did!

As long as we're talking to delivery guys:
Got a call to fix a ceiling recently after the roof had just been done. The guys unloading the shingles (hey, it was late on a Friday, I suppose) put all 35 sq into one nice neat stack on the roof. Guess it buckled the drywall quite well. A little surprised it didn't all end up in the living room.
