At the moment, the wife and I are planning some upgrades in the main part of the home. Late last year we had the roof done and in January I was able to vacate my home office so the windows could be replaced (frame included). Currently, the wife is looking to have tile put down in the family room but moving the furniture out is presenting an issue.
First, my friends appreciate that I do not abuse them, or try to abuse them (bribe) when it comes to moving furniture. I grew up with a lot of older sisters that always seemed to move from one 3rd floor apartment to another. So, I really do not, like asking friends and do not mind hiring someone to help out.
Only problem is I cannot find anyone to even offer them $15-20/hour for a half day worth of work. No, not looking for the Home Depot ascention types as they are usually geared for a messy worksite or landscaping. We’re looking for a couple og strongbacks that can work in interior finished spaces.
Considering the novelty of the situation and the fact that this might present an inhabition or delay into getting potential customers to move forward in the home improvement/renovation game, how do some of you assist the homeowners in this facet of the sales game?
And before you go suggesting I hire neighborhood teenagers this is a community where they would rather do without than do labor for money. They are all laden with Apple products and the love (ahem, $$) of their parents. I’ve got a family room, and shortly thereafter a living and dining rooms worth of belongings that need moving. And moving companies laughed at us.

You must have a huge amount of heavy furniture?
Pretty sure you are under 55 and not disabled - use your imagination - casters, dollies, etc.
Heck even moved as full sized upright piano by myself when under 50. Still able to move 'frigerator, floor drill press, appliances, etc by myself with proper tools.
PS: I did have to dissassemble my big 4 ton clausing lathe when I moved it by mtself<G>
Even DW, when she gets it in her head to shampoo the carpets when I'm out of town, can move everything with levers and dolies.
Got an electric skate board a few years back, does that ever work well - just lever one end of say a piano up onto that, couple of dollies under the other end, turn on the power and off you go (if there are not any stairs.)
Well, you can try the temp agencies. Or, in any large town there's a parking lot or some such where people go to get hired out as day laborers.
If you can't find a contact for General Services.Inc, you might try regular Handyman and HoneyDo companies.
