The post of the Starrett Co. website in another thread prompted me to post this query.,
I own a Starrett Square , Mod. 439 that I inherited from my father (trained as a wood pattern maker in the early 30’s, master of many trades).
The square is a combination protractor and rafter square. One scale reads in deg., the reverse scale reads in pitch per ft. I have looked at the Starrett website and they do not list anything even close to it nor have I ever seen another one listed anywhere. .
Body is 3 1/2″ x 9″, blade is 1 1/2″ x 24″.
It is very accurate and I have used it many times since I acquired it.
I am mostly curious about it’s age.
And no, I am not letting go of it!

Bill,
Thank you . I had looked at the Starrett site but somehow missed the section on builders tools. I appreciate the find. Thanks again.
