I am planning to install a wrought iron gate and fence. The home store sells galvanized and non-galvanized painted black panels. The cost difference is about $25. I want low maintenance and no rust solution. Should I spend the extra money for the galvanized panels?

If it was me I'd use the galv.
Look at real wrought iron in New York and New Orleans, they have lasted a hundred years. The main characteristic is that they are solid. Most metal is hollow and rusts from the inside out.
Wrought iron is very durable, but not generally available anymore. Solid steel will rust faster than iron. But tubular is lighter and what you will find nowadays, unless a custom builder makes the gate. I'd definately spring for the galvanized. Hopefully the paint will adhere well to it, but ungalvanized will rust under the paint shortly.
