I am not certain if I am in the right forum to be asking this question. We are rehabbing a house built in 1929. We need approximately 40 sf of 3.25″ wide red oak flooring. We would like to know if anyone sells salvaged flooring. Thanks.

What part of the country are you in. Here in Seattle we have quite a few places that sell salvaged building goods. Here is a link to Second Use. http://www.seconduse.com/.
Another local salvage store is called the Restore but they do not have a web page. Phone number is (206) 297-9119.
Here is a link that I found on This Old House. The Duluth Timber Company. http://duluthtimber.com/products/floor.php
I thought the link to This Old House Web Page might be useful. They have a full page of salvaged flooring suppliers. http://www.oldhouseweb.com/suppliers_of/12005_Flooring_-_Salvage.shtml
I have had good results from mixing new hardwoods with old. Order the proper size weave it in and sand and finish. This will only work if you plan on refinishing the entire surface.
Good Luck.

Adam, Thanks for the info. We are in Houston, Texas.
Another good reason to fill out your profile, at least general location. Most larger cities have somebody that salvages. I redid an old store and needed about one square of old heart pine. Found an architectural salvage place in Asheville, NC with anything you could imagine.
One more vote for checking to see if you have a local building material salvage yard. We have several of them around where I live, look in your yellow pages.
Another possibility is http://www.craigslist.com , if they have a web page for your area. I often see used building materials for sale there.
Another suggestion would be to find out if anyone in your community conducts demolition sales.
I rescued a 2 story approx 1940s house worth of red oak flooring for 300USD and LOTS of labor at the hottest part of the year. Once you develop a rhythm, it's not so bad removing it and if you know what you are doing, installation is ok. Just depends on if you are cash rich or time/knowledge rich.
Ex death row doggy, Tabitha (ICK) is now Sheba (thanks Mother). Working on name acknowledgement, along with car sick cure and other training issues. She now removes the water hose from the bucket I'm filling(when my back is turned) so she can play in the water.
