I had frustrations with my old stapler. The staples kept kinking instead of going cleanly into anything but softwoods, especially with the longer staple sizes (as you would guess).
Noticed in HD one day that the B&D Powershot (hope I got the name right) staples were considerably more narrow and heavy gauge, so I got one of those guns.
Problem solved. Worth $20 to try.
*Kubota - I grew up using squeeze type staplers. At some point I tried a staple hammer and have been using them for 20 some odd years. They take a little getting used to, but I prefer them. - jb
*I, too, have problems with staplers. It does seem to be aggravated by using off brand staples.
