I’m using ECO-Block ICFs to construct a residence from the basement up to the top plate. Does anyone have a good technique for attaching shingles (cedar or Hardie “Shingleside”) to the exterior of this type of ICF?
P.S. I think ECO-Block is the best and most versatile of the ICFs on the market.

I think you are in a position to do a type of rain screen, by running pressure treated straping horizontaly (with kerfs or dados every 16" oc on the back side). You can screw them into the plastic ties formed into the eco-block panel. I dont know how you plan to finish the wall going into the grade but if you provided a screened air intake at the bottom of the first course of shingles and a air exit at the soffit, then air should travel up behind the shingles through the various dados and exit the top allowing the shingles to dry evenly on both side which would greatly improve the life of the shingles(and/or paint).
But then again what do I know?
