Building house on Lake Erie that will be sitting completely exposed to shear winds, rain and snow. Distributor for Hardie was not all in on Hardie for this application, especially the pre finished lap siding. Suggested primed boards then paint. He said several jobs had significant problems, perhaps a combination of installer error or poor caulking. I have done LP Smartside, but not for places fully exposed like this. Have never used pre finished siding, like the caulk and 2 coats of paint on LP Smart side which always looked great, but it is still wood. Going after lap, shake look for gable roof style house. Any insight on Hardie in this situation. Thanks
