I was looking at using a product called “Wedi”, which is EPS covered with fiberglass and cement. It’s used as a concrete board replacement. Tile sticks to it and it’s completely waterproof.
Just wondering if anyone has used this product yet, or heard anything about it?

Paul,
I was looking at it a couple of years ago for a house when the only local seller went bust. Then I was going to make my own with stucco mesh and full flex mod mortar. Never got that job, but it could be worth it to make your own.
I think it's a brilliant product. It can be quite strong depending on the thickness you choose and the corners you buld in. More corners are better. You stick boards together with adhesive and then tape the joints with fibermesh and mortar.

I've never used it myself but I know people who have and like it a lot. The problem is that it's very $$$ and can be hard to find in the U.S. They use it a lot in Europe, even on floors. It's particularly good under radiant heat because of its R- value. And it's a whole lot lighter than cement board...
The guys on johnbridge.com can tell you about it.
