I live in Utah (near SLC) and am interested in starting a deck and landscape business. I have found that the Utah license laws require that you either have 2 years fulltime experience in the licensing area and pass the license exam, or that your business employees, partners with, or works under a licensed contractor. I am looking for someone that can help me out. I am a medical research coordinator by profession, and am looking at making this transition. I have many years of indirect experience (I lived on a ranch and farm (many building projects) until I went into the Marine Corp, and have done a few decks and landscaping for friends/acquantances. I do good work, and have received compliments by contractors and inspectors. I am detail and code oriented/focused, and want to do a great job. I am interested in getting into these trades because I enjoy the work. Any suggestions or advice?
Thanks,
Jeremy
