I just took a year off from work and built my own Center Chimney Cape, post and beam. The siding is white cedar with Home Depo Behr Natural Clear Finish. By spring time it will need another coat and I would like to find something that will not hide the grain and keep that natural look but has enough UV inhibitors to protect the wood and minimize the turning of the shingle. I am not sold on those film based products. I live on the seacoast of New Hampshire with lots of humidity and snow. Any help is appreciated

Prescriptive codes don't address the connection at less common angles, so base the connection off more typical ones using bolts, structural screws, blocking, and steel tension ties.

Penofin finishes will do the best at what you're asking for.
*Dennis,My choice would be Wolman preservative finish with UV protection. A house I did 5 years ago with it still looks the same, no graying.Darrell
