Does anyone know how to build an interior vaulted ceiling or have a reference book you can direct me to? I am not talking about a dome, but rather an arched hip like one would commonly see built from masonry in a church in Mexico or Italy.
A customer has requested one for the following dimensions.
Floor plan dimension is rectangular at 11’-1†x 9’-3†and the height of the arch is 2’-0â€.
Any help would be appreciated.

I'm not sure of the exact shape you're looking for, but a basic barrel vault is pretty simple.
Assuming that your walls are 8' high, and your width (of room) is 9'3":
Lay out two pieces of 3/4 ply end to end measuring as total of 9'3".
Measure down 8' from the exact center of 9'3" and drive a nail.
Make a big compass (a string with a pencil, or better yet a piece of 1x material).
Make your compass 10' long (8' + 2' arch height) and draw an arc across the ply.
I'll take two of these arcs and glue and screw them together with adhesive and then run 2x4's between them. An arc every 8-10' should be enough to support drywall, etc...
.....Goin' to watch a beautiful storm roll in at sunset in central Colorado now!
Thanks for your reply, but I am not refering to a barrel vault but rather one that resembles a hip with the arched corners meeting at the center of the rectangle at the high point of the ceiling. Picture a rectangle with a dot in the center and the four corners of the rectangle arching up to meet that point. Perhaps your method would work by using perpendicular barrels, but I am not sure. Have you done one?
Hope you enjoy your evening.
