I am replacing sections of damaged vapor barrier in a crawlspace. What is the best adhesive for gluing overlapping sections of the 6 mil polyethylene? Silicone adhesive? So far I have used acoustic sealant (Black Death) to seal edges along the bottom plate where the plastic is fastened. It is a bit messy for the overlapping edges of VB.
Thanks,
Pete

acoustical sealant is the best, messy, everyone hates it, but it is hands down the best, second would be tuck tape at $10 a roll ..
That could be tough ... w/ dirt and all. I think 3-M makes or made a red lightwt tape many used for either VB and/or e.g. tyvek. I would think it needs to be both dry and clean.
Thanks for the replies all. We have used a lot of "black death" and also the red tape has been useful. Should be a much drier crawlspace going forward.
3M "Blue 72" spray adhesive.
