Framing the floor inside a crawlspace foundation keeps a gable-end addition close to grade.

My understanding is that you need to heat up the tile with a heat gun or blow torch from the back side (to avoid staining) to soften the material, then it cuts quite easily with a sharp utility knife.
I know installers use an overlay method the measure the cut dimensions quickly, but if I were doing it myself, and the cuts where complex, I would take cardboard and cut it with scissors as a template, turn the tile over and draw the template there, heat it up with a torch and cut it and voila, a perfect fit.
I think. And yeah, I would probably be there long after the pro's would have left.
Draw your cuts out with a pencil first you can be extremely detailed. Soften with a heat gun be really careful they scorch easily. Cut on a peice of wood backer with a sharp utility knife. Good Luck

thanks all. are we talking propane torch..will a hot air gun work
thanks

Both work, I think the torch scorches easier. So I prefer a heat gun for stripping paint. You could try a hair dryer in a pinch but it would probably be a little slow.

Hot air gun. Heat both sides along the cut line. First one side then the other. It really doesnt have to be heated that much to make a world of difference in cuts. Also,if you need to drill through vct as in stair nosing, heat first so it wont break.
bump thanks guys
