Vent space for concrete siding?

When installing concrete siding, is it necessary to provide a ventable space between the back of the siding and the housewrap or building paper?

    No.  If it is a concern to you the use firring strips (lathe).  That rain screen stuff is not worth the $90 a roll (150sqft).
