Back in SoCal, where I lived before, most, if not all homes I worked on always vented their baths and stove vent through the roof with just a cap to prevent the occasional rain from going back down the pipe. Now that I am here on the coast in Wash, we have lots of rain and frequently driving rain. That is one reason whay roofs are required to have 100-110mph rated shingles. Which brings me to my question.
With weather conditions like this, what is the recommended method you guys prefer? My thinking is to go with vents that are on leeward walls or gable ends of the house that have the least amount of rain/wind. This also helps aleviate “extra” holes in the roof that could be potential leaks later (even if they are sealed/shingled correctly.
