I’m trying to figure out how to recreate the siding detail in the attached photos. Our plan is to use 2×4 STK cedar on edge spaced 1-1/2″ apart. The rub is how to achieve the look without exposed fasteners.
We’ve made a few mockups screwing from the back (which would mean installing the completed assembly at once), toe-nailing, etc. But nothing seems like the perfect solution. Any ideas?
(BTW, the pictures come from the McDonald’s in Boulder, CO. Got to hand it to them on this one.)
Much appreciated.

great
What would the backing of the assembly be?
3/4” ply, or potentially 5/16” Hardie
I expect they do it with a fixed assembly since they probably do many stores with the same design. In other words, screwed and glued from the back and installed as a panel.
Looks more like IPE rather than cedar
