Can you drill holes vertical to one another in LVL? My opinion is that this is a sloppy job and electricians should have first checked with me, then if we had to go though beam, we should have made certain we are in middle third and holes are spaced as the should be. I have always thought that holes HAVE to be horizontal to one another, but do not see anything in manel that prohibits vertical. Doesn’t seem smart or ideal, but is it acceptable? What is fix at this point if not? Electrician says they did it correctly..

It looks, however, that this location (third photo) is not really in a critical beam, since the beam directly under would be taking the load.
(You could consult with an engineer or your local codes enforcement office)
In the first photo are those doubled up solid lumber?
They have different guidance.
Why did they use the wrong hanger for the joist?
