Can anyone recommend a manufacterer of sectional garage doors with vertical wood siding? I have found several vintage garage door manufacturers that want $3K-5K for a custom designed door. I have also found a plethora of sectional door manufacturers that all sell the same 3 or 4 suburban style designs. I am looking for a manufacturer with a better tradeoff between $$ and style.

Holmes-Hally Industries (800-427-1203) in CA sells garage door hardware. They have a catelog. Maybe you can make your own door. I'm going to try it for my garage. I'll have a one-piece pivoting door that looks like the traditional swinging double door (I hope!).

One solution is to get a standard garage door and install 5/16" X 4 vertical cedar over the top of the panels. This will give you the look I think you want at a fraction of the cost you have been quoted. We did this with no apparant problems about 20 years ago, although I quit working for that company about 3 years later so I don't know what the long term results were.
If you go that route, get heavier duty springs etc. or you may find yourself replacing them on a more frequent basis than you had in mind.
Cheers

Simion we did the same thing and added a door opener. As I have to pass this door on the way home it still looks good and the owner has had us back for some other things. We haven't had a chance to do this again and think it's a shame. It added about $500 to the garage price and really set it off.
