vinyl siding fasteners w/ air tool?
Is there a faster way to install vinyl siding than hammering nails? i.e. roofing nailer, staple gun, nailer?
I’m not sure which fastener might be appropriate with tools I have.

Sure, if you want the siding to buckle the first time the temperature changes.
The whole idea behind loose-nailing vinyl siding is to allow it to expand and contract with temperature changes. Nail it tight with a pneumatic nailer, and you'll have a mess. Wolverine has a product that can be put up that way- it's got a nailing fin with some fine mesh between the fin and the main piece- this allows the siding to move even though the nails/staples have been driven home.

There is a gun by Hitachi made just for siding that has a adjustable depth about $370.tool trader has it.Have never used it myself I have also been told that a shingle nail can be altered and will do the same job
Remodeler:
Remembered your Dec. post. Saw an article in Jan 04 Journal of Light Construction (p. 113) by a PA carpenter who was using a hose free stapler forsiding. It's a Paslode IM200-S16. In the article he claims it can be adjusted to handle applications over OSB, foam board & other materials and that he's has realized a 50% productivity gain. No problem (he claims) in getting the required nail relief to allow for expansion of the vinyl. Was looking for one for HFH, but the $500 price tag is too expensive for the occasional user. If you do buy / or have purchased this stapler (or a competitor's) for vinyl applications, be sure to share with "us" your experience.
