I have to price vinyl siding tight round here. I’m looking to speed up the install and thinking of getting an adaptor for a roof gun to do the nail off. bostitch makes one. Just wondering if anyone has used it and if they like it?

I have adapter for my Bostich roof nailer, I found it hard to see the nail flange to be accurate, only use dit couple times. I ended up using Bostich 2" sheeting stapler, workes GREAT ! fast and depth is very easy to set. Just fasten 1 leg on the staple in the centre nail slot after you get your depth adjusted. Never used the roof gun after that. 5x faster than hand nailing. I also used it for couple aluminum siding jobs after a hail storm .
yea sighting the nail and flange is what I was worrying about.good idea using the stapler.
I have done a few jobs with a senco 1/2" crown stapler. There is an attchment for guaging the staple top not set, allowing the siding to expand and contract. It worked quite well on the siding and trim. No way those staple are pullin out.
I have also used one siding(cetainteed, millenium nail tight hem) that has a flexable hem on the top that you nail.staple into. I really liked that stuf.
just corroding away...
but they won't pull out...

customer wants, customer gets. What do you do, tell them you won't work with the product and lose the job?
I am all for educating the client, but not twisting their arm.
Compared to other siding products, it is cheaper. specially when there is no painting.
For myself, not my first choice
In reality, it is no different that when a client buys the cheapest floor tile he can find and wants me to install it. I advise them of the long term costs and then start snapping lines and mixing mud. Same with any other trade or low end products
Years ago, I bought a nice gas grill form sam's club. that is the one my wife wanted and I wanted the Weber. Two years later the cast iron burners corroded out. $150 for the set. Now they are out again and among other parts. It will cost $25 to get it going. I just checked Weber's website and the replacemnt parts are 1/3 of what I will have spent. No savings at this point, actually were money behind.
Maybe time to just buy a Weber charcoal kettle. I perfer charcoal or wood, but the wife likes the no mess/ease. Actually, so do I when feeling lazy
some work I won't do....
and I pass... don't need the long range headache...
way too offten the poor choice on the HO's part is still all yur fault... so why go there...
in a former life I've done several vynal installs.. so what happened to then years latter..
that was enough for me...

Im not seeing an argument here. I've pulled enough staples out of wood to think that they hold better than nails. I saw a vinyl siding stapler at the pawn shop for $20 and I almost bought it even though I might use it 5 or 6 times a year.
If you want to go the staple route, I have an old DuoFast siding stapler bought at auction with other guns I wanted and have use for. Make me an offer or trade something.
Everything will be okay in the end. If it's not okay, it's not the end.
