Good afternoon,
I recently installed Zip R sheathing on a new addition and taped all the seams and window flanges with zip tape. I am installing vinyl siding to match the rest of the house, and have reviewed the Vinyl siding institutes website to make sure I understand the best practices. In their instructions they mention installing 10” of roofing felt on inside and outside corners. It also mentions installing 9” of roofing felt
around the windows. My question is, is there still a need for the roofing felt when installing vinyl over Zips system? If so, should I just apply the felt over everything since vinyl
is so “leaky”, or does this effect other aspects of the Zip system like it’s vapor qualities. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

Call me anal, but, I put a 12" piece of self-sealing flashing on every corner, inside and out. 6-inch pieces around windows and 12 inches under every corner or seam in the fascia.
