I am going to lay an industrial vinyl tile floor over a concrete slab in our factory. There is an joint running through it. The joint is about 1/4″ wide. The difference in height from one side to the other is a maximum of 1/4″. How should I go about tiling this? Should the floor be made even with leveling compound? Should there be a gap at the joint? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks
Geoffrey

I would tile right up to the joint, and then start again on the other side...preserve the joint or you'll just end up with cracked and popped tiles.

*You might take a look at a metal end cap for vinyl tile. It'll clean up the cut edge. Might leave a gap between the two sections and urethane caulk that joint. There just might be a metal expansion cap that would bridge that joint. I'll ask fast eddie.
