(my) New house. We put the conduit in the ground in early December (1600′ of it) and pulled the work order from Allegany Power then.
There was a delay “3 weeks to 3 months” since the pole at the road was too small, and Verizon owned it and “we can’t touch it” OK, we are reasonable people, we understand. Verizon finally put the pole in a month ago, we’ve paid for the service, all required inspections are completed, etc…but
Again and again there are delays…and excuses.
Today (April 20) we call (like we do twice a week, since late December) and the answer is “What? you don’t have power? We thought you did. We must have lost the ticket. We can reschedule you for May 5th.”
Is there anything we can do? To what authority do we go? We are ready to move in, but cannot do final until we have actual power. Is this long a delay common?
Our temporary living situation requires a lot of travel, and its getting expensive…what would you do?

There is always someone who can make something happen TODAY...
Just have to tell the person you are talking to... I understand you can't make this happen today... so can you please connect me to who they do trust with that ability...

Contact your state "board of public utilities".
Go by different names. Corporation Commission is one. Public Utilites Comssion, etc.
Going through the state web site should find it. If not the reference department at your library or your state legislator should be able to give you the name and contact info.
Brian, our state (MI) has a public service commission. I had a spat with the phone co. , called MPSC and got a call from Ameritech in a week voiding the charge on our acc. Your state must have some utility regulating agency, try them.

Follow the link to Marylands public service commission.
If you have any poo, fling it now.
Thanks for all the ideas -
I'll be calling the MDPSC tomorrow - and have maybe my state delegates call them as well.
Treat every person you meet like you will know them the rest of your life - you just might!
