Wanted & 4 Sale

andybuildz | Posted in Reader Classified on October 10, 2002 09:33am

Gee I feel honored to be the first post. See what hnappens when I come home for lunch.

I need a good bandsaw so if anyones in the tri state area I’d appreciate a shout.

I have two brand new “Hideavector2” heaters. To heat hard to heat areas such as under kitchen  or bathroom cabinets (In the kick plate area) I paid $150 each and I’ll let them go for $200 for the pair plus shipping costs.

I have a Vermont Castings wood/coal stove with al the acutriments, Coal hopper, mitten/sock rack etc etc…..I also have the piping to go through your roof. YOu’ll have to pick it up if youre in the area cause it weighs more then my van. $1000

HAlf a dozen pr of rusty pump jacks. $10 bucks a pair. They work fine. Rustoleum them if you want. I just bought the newer aluminum pumpjacks and poles.

My phone numbers on my website below the post or just drop a line here

Be well

got it in the crate for that SUPPOSED one weekend deal at the woodworkers warehouse of 899.00. there's a clearout for the new fall line new design. the new line has more of a laguna design , with resaw procedure in mine more clearance. no motor beefup though . just put mine together gave it a test run pretty quiet, although i resawed some walnut, a 1/8 "wasnt to impressed with what the blade left as far as marks pretty rough so i gotta get another blade. but there was no vibration, and the thickness was pretty consistent even with the roughness. i also converted over to 230 volts and added a 12 foot 10 gauge branded electric cord with a 220 volt plug. other than that i still gotta put through the numbers. then we'll see. damn dogs barking to go out . gotta go. cheers bear

I bought the same saw in Jan. so far it has been flawless.I got it local and paid $999 and got 6 blades with it as the "bonus", I'm going today to look at planers, got a portable delta about 8 years ago, but am thinking I need something in the 15-20" range. Jet or Delta for a more permanent fixture in the shop.

          1. alias | Oct 12, 2002 08:56pm | #12

glad to hear that and good luck with your other purchase's, the blade i got from that saw, is garbage. i talk to a guy from suffolk machinery , named Art this guy was so informative about blades, saws, metallurgy, hooks, gullets, degree pitchs, maintenance, wheel concentricity, tires,as he called them. i learned more about blades, and saws in the 24 minutes that i talked to him than mark duginske book . i 'm sure with the reading of the whole book it will be a diffrent story . but as crash course , i was impressed, he was candid which i really appreciate . he said the jet for the money. is the best deal out there. if you have the money laguna aahh this is old news... talk to this guy Art. i also got the iturra catalogue in the mail today with the blade gauge, theres alot of info here also. very plainly spoken, and i got the sense of trustworthiness. In the next couple of week's or so i be able to give a better opinion...... so cheers bear and a wet one at that.......... www. suffolkmachinery.com

            >> How do you post a web address?

Keep in mind that people are far more flexible than computers. You and I have no problem recognizing www .suffolkmachinery.com. as a URL, and would probably be able to type it correctly into the location line. But as it stands, with a space after the www and a period after the .com, the software that recognizes URL's and turns them into links doesn't recognize it.

With those two extra characters removed, http://www.suffolkmachinery.com works just fine.

            Bear

Nice site...Its in my favorites list now. Sure is close enough to me. I was at the Tool Warehouse probably the week before you and looked at the same saw. I spose I'm not buying anything till  I move into my new /old house in a week or so. I want the saw to resaw some wood into about 3/8" pieces and run through my W&H Molder/Shaper creating some wainscotting for some of the ceilings and walls among other things. My thought was to get some 1x and run it through my molding maker on both sides THEN resaw it in half. Hmmm

Thanks CAG for the info on the Circular Saw case.

I work for a Engineered Wood Products company called Jager Building Systems and I wanted to know if you or anyone else knew where to buy a good blueprint rack.  Maybe even if anyone knew where I could get a design and build one? We probably would need to store about 500 plans.

            Thanks for the help

Is Jager the ones who make trimmable end floor trusses & relates stuff? The name sounds familiar.........

The plan clamps are much more important and expensive then the racks they hang in. If you can get the clamps, just build your own racks to suit the area they're going into.

Wish I could tell ya where to get the clamps, but I have no idea.I believe in dragons, good women and other mythological creatures.

Well, I knew the name sounded familiar - I just couldn't put the name with the company off the top of my head.

What do you do for the company?

Can you get us some of that beef jerky ?

How about some of the beam design software ?

Don't you just HATE people who are always after freebies ???The other day I slammed a finger in the car door. My friend sure was pissed.

          15. JRenner | Mar 12, 2003 08:34pm | #28

I am a Design Technician.  Basically I'll take blueprints and do layouts of them for our product, compile a material list and quote the job out.

Personally I think the beef jerky tastes like old shoe leather. I'd rather have my deer jerky.

I am working on seeing if I can give out the beam design software, I'm not sure.

What line of work are you in?

I'm the unofficial "truss guy" here. Been doing deign work on trusses, beams, I-joists, and steel for about 18 years. So we probably do similar things.

I can provide a company name/info if you need that to be able to send out the beam software. If you ever get lost - Remember that moss grows on the north side of a highway worker's shovel.

That would be good.  I can also see if we have a sales rep. in your area.  Does your company carry any EWP right now?

          21. User avater
            BossHog | Mar 13, 2003 05:27pm | #34

I'll email you with my name and the company info.

We currently carry GP I-joists and LVL.

I work at one of 3 plants, and have no input into what we buy/carry. So there's no sense having a salesman stop by. I can give 'em the name of the boss, but that's about it. Can I draw you a beer Norm ?No, I know what they look like. Just pour me one.

          22. JRenner | Mar 13, 2003 05:34pm | #35

Is your company loyal to GP or are they just the cheapest in your area?

            BossHog | Mar 13, 2003 05:56pm | #36

Don't really know the answer to that question. I've only worked for this company for about 20 months, and don't work at the main HQ. And the majority of the work I do is roof trusses. My guess is because of price and availability.

I asked about the software only beacuse it sure is nice to have some decent software when you have an unusual beam situation. Didn't know if you company allowed it if we weren't currently buying from them.

Do you know if your company sells in our area? How's a beer sound Norm?I dunno. I usually finish them before they get a word in.

          24. JRenner | Mar 13, 2003 06:36pm | #37

I e-mailed our sales rep for your area.  He should get in contact with me in the next few hours.  We do sell in your area.  Can you send me your other locations and also the persons name and number who makes the buying and selling decisions.

So read above for the basics,

I called the place I refered to and they sell the clamps and the racks, Stationay, roll around etc.  If you can't find a place close to you, they said they would ship just about anywhere.
