WANTED: good portable gen set (smallish)
WANTED: good portable gen set (smallish)
I need something portable than can run a Skill Saw, miter saw or such out on one man jobs. Nothing large enough to need wheels.
I am looking at the Honda EU2000ia and trying to find a posted price. Seems you have to ask the dealer. 16.7 amps should handle a framing saw.
Are there happy Honda Campers out there?
What are other options to look at or avoid?

I think you'll get lots of satisfied Honda campers out there. I bought that exact unit last year and have been very pleased with it. It's very quiet, very economical on gas, light enough to not break your back lugging it around, and starts on the first pull.
I don't recall exactly how much I paid for it. Seems in the neighborhood of $900. I bought it from a place in Indiana. I think I found the place on You tube. I'll try to find the name of it and get back to you.
I was hoping that the number would be $500. I'm ThreadBear. The ToolBear

I purchased a Honda EU3000isa off EBAY a couple of years back. Has been very reliable. This unit is energy efficient as all the EU units are. The EU3000 is heavy though. Saw a local Honda store running adds a few weeks ago with attractive pricing.
I've got their EB3000C model, it has what they call cycloconverter technology. Not exactly sure what that means, but one thing is does mean is that it's very lightweight. Weighs around 65lbs. Probably the lightest 3k unit around.Supposed to be very clean power too - maybe not as perfect clean as the invertor units, but very close. They run about $1200 new I think, I bought mine from HD'S rental for $575.It'll run a 2HP 4gal air compressor.Julian

Read the Honeywell reviews on Amazon. Best buy one local where you can get repairs. Honda seems the place to be. My old '70s Honda works fine, but won't power a saw.The ToolBear
