I probably should have posted here earlier…
We need some roof repair work done. I’ve refrenced it in some previous threads in different folders. We have a 2 story house with attached 1 story garage which meets at the gable wall of the house and wraps around the back of the house. We had the roof done in April, it leaks, and the roofer has bailed on us and his warranty. I’ve had a few people come look at it and tell me all the things that are wrong but no one wants to do a patch.
Here’s what I need/am looking for:
1. Garage -house sidewall and frontwall need to be reflashed properly (that’s where its leaking). I want someone to remove a few shingles, remove the vinyl siding, remove the wood clapboards underneath, put I&W on the roof up the wall, reflash and reshingle, put felt/I&W on the wall down over the top of the flashing, put the vinyl back up which may require some furring or reinstalling the clapboards first. Sidewall is about 2-3′ long. Frontwall is about 2′. Not a big area.
2. Two of the 3 vent stacks have some facenailing on the boot. I’d like those fixed however you see fit so there are no exposed nails.
3. The chimney needs new counterflashing lead installed properly.
4. I need 1 new gutter (unrelated to my roofing job – there’s just not one there). 30′ seamless aluminum. You can just have it delivered and I can put it up or you can do it. Whatever works.
5. Possibly install some gutterflashing on the house gutters to prevent rain from getting behind the gutters.
The roof is not steep – garrison colonial style house.
If you can help me with any or all of these things please send me an email. I realize that repairing someone else’s mistakes is not fun and can be hard, so my wife and I are willing to pay very well for this. I’m not interested in the lowest cost – I’m interested in having a competent person do the job right and stand behind it. You will be compensated more than fairly for a job well done.
Thanks.

The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten.
Thanks for the bump and the link, rez. If he can get people to show up and return calls he's worth the money. That seems like half the battle.
Contractors can be a strange lot.
Seems the whole employment structure is fraught with surprises, landmines and trying to keep enjoyment in the labor. Not always easy to do.
Hope you find a quality company.

bump.
Which town?
I might have a reference for you...had similar repairs done. He's out of Dover (of all places)...have to check at home for the name/number.
Thanks. I sent you an email.
