What is the project? I am in Camden SC and have done a lot of ornamental masonry work.

Well, it'll be a timberframe house and i'm trying to balance wants vs budget. Here's what i'd like
prefab fireplace
pillars around the house (rock on the lower 3')
the siding i'd like to have a combination of stone, cedar shakes and ?hardiboard or stucco?
it'll be a 2 store house + basement
I assume that since you are using a prefab fire place. That you are talking about a stone facade?
On the piers, I am not sure if stone will meet code. I hope that you are talking a facade here also.
It sounds like it is going to a real nice home. I have been watching one being built at Lake Wateree right now. A big job but well worth the results.
I really like the Hardy board siding. But (yes there is always a but) You also mention cedar shakes. I assume that you plan to let them age naturally. I would think you would want all the siding to match. The Hardy siding will have to be painted and will never give you the patina. I would use cedar clap board instead.
I am interested in the project. Let me know more about it.

thanks...yes stone facade...primarily due to cost at least for the fireplace. The pillars would actually be somethig like 10x10's stone around the bottom. Regarding siding, my goal is to get a french country kind of look if possible and try to make this thing as maintenance free as reasonable for the given look. Even thought about composite shakes if they look right.
I'd be happy to sit down w/ya sometime next time i'm in your area...especially if there's a TF house going up out there. Not many around.
Would love to meet with you also. If you want to see the Timber frame house go up you better hurry. Its going up fast. If you are going to be in the Camden area give me an E-Mail at [email protected]
