   Andy -

   What percentage of your molding do you manufacture ?

   Do you find it cost effective to do your own as opposed to purchasing it?

   In this house I made none. I already had more on my plate than I wanted to deal with but in other houses I used it a real lot. Certainly doesnt pay for just ####few pieces because the cutter blades average 75-100 bucks or so each. I mades cherry casings a ways back because to buy them the costs were outta orbit. I bought a typical colonial casing cutter blade and have used it a real lot over a period of time for different jobs. I have a blade to make handrails that I also used a real lot. T&G blades I used a lot for flooring....planer blades too...and varies others.
   I've used a lot of junk (free) wood like wood from skids and the 6' 4x4's under the skids on the trucks that can be exotic woods more times than not from tile supply houses for instance (thats a gold mine right there).
   Oh yeh...I made a tremendous amt of raised panels on it for a lot of different jobs on my own houses. Whats nice is the portability of it.
   I made a tub surround in my first house of all pine with a trillion small raised panels around the three sides of it and all the cabs/vanity in the same room. Just set up my W&H outside the bathroom on the deck and went to town
   I've had that thing probably over 15 years or better by now.
   If I needed to buy a shaper or the W&H in the biz I'm in (renovations, not specifically cabinetry) I'd get the W&H again.
   Its also extremely well made.If Blodgett says, Tipi tipi tipi it must be so!

   Piff....have you seen the cheap knock off of the W&H?

   There has been some discussion about it over on JLC.  I'm pretty sure it's a Chinese reproduction of the W&H.  Good reviews from the guys that have it.

   I have no firsthand experience with it.

   Well all I can say is I'm glad I bought it when I did cause I couldn't afford it today at those prices not that its not worth it. All the raised panels I made alone on that thing paid for itself so.....If Blodgett says, Tipi tipi tipi it must be so!

   No, Haven't. After ninety some years, I suppose their patent is worn out. Not that the Chinese bother about respecting patents anyway.

   I know of someone with one for sale in SF bay area. Its a heavy machine and shipping would be pretty steep. Where are you located?
