I have been asked to fix a 6’x6′ butcher block island. It is warping and spliting. The house or kitchen must have seen alot of dry heat in the past. I am considering steaming the warp out and trying to clamp and glue the lamination back together. Does this sound like a good idea????
Are there any other solutions other than replacement?

matt, look around the house for other signs of dryness... this is the heating season.. most houses do not maintain the correct level of RH.. 30% - 50% ..
look at the floor joists, wood floors, wood furniture..look for gaps, and glue joints comming a part
if the house is too dry, you're wasting your time with the butcher block..
the butcher block is probably beyond salvage.. try vegetable oil and water wrapped in plastic bags.... the inter- cellular moisture is gone from the wood

Here is the funny thing about the house. There is a hot tub 20' away from the kitchen. Half the time that I am in the house the top is left off the tub and it is humid enough to create a rainforest in there.
I had a feeling that you would say that the top is wasted. I have the same feeling also. I made the claim to the property manager that I would not warrant any type of repair.
Thanks for the help.
